Abu dhabi: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Monday that the trilateral peace talks between Ukraine, the US, and Russia, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi, have not been canceled, even as tensions escalate due to the US-Israel military operation against Iran, which has led to drone and missile attacks in the Gulf region.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy addressed journalists, emphasizing that while the venue cannot be confirmed due to the ongoing conflict, the meeting remains on the agenda. "No one has cancelled the meeting," he asserted, highlighting the importance of the talks for Ukraine.

Zelenskyy mentioned the possibility of alternative venues if security concerns prevent the meeting in Abu Dhabi. He suggested that previous locations, such as Trkiye and Switzerland, could be considered viable options for the discussions. "We will definitely support any of these three venues for the meeting. We are waiting for a response from our partners," he added.

The potential dates for the talks are March 5-6, with the possibility of extending to March 8. Russian officials have yet to comment on Zelenskyy's announcement.

The previous rounds of peace talks among Russia, Ukraine, and the US have taken place on Jan. 23-24, Feb. 4-5, and Feb. 17-18, with the first two rounds held in Abu Dhabi and the third in Geneva.
