Indonesia Rushes Humanitarian Aid to Volcano-Displaced Residents.

Indonesia: Indonesia's government has provided more humanitarian aid to thousands of people displaced by a volcano in the East Nusa Tenggara region. The country's Social Affairs Ministry said they provided some 1.6 billion rupiah ($102,000) in humanitarian assistance in the third phase, state-run Antara News reported. According to Anadolu Agency, the third phase of logistical assistance includes 1,000 mattresses, 15 multipurpose tents, 1,000 blankets, 1,000 family kit packages, 600 roll-up tents, 800 ready-to-eat food packages, and 1,000 children's food packages. The government also deployed medical teams to the area to provide health care facilities to the affected people. They also set up multipurpose tents functioning as emergency schools at all six shelter camps. So far, 13,116 people, including 3,373 families, have been affected by the eruptions of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki. Authorities have banned all activities within 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) of the crater. On Wednesday, a volcano in the affected reg ion again erupted, spewing volcanic ash and disrupting international and domestic flight operations at Lombok Airport in West Nusa Tenggara. Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki began erupting on Nov. 3, killing at least 10 people and injuring over two dozen. Indonesia, which lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, has 130 active volcanoes, making it one of the world's most seismically active countries.
