China Lodges Protest with Outgoing Biden Administration Over Trade, Tech Restrictions

Beijing: Beijing Thursday lodged a 'stern' protest with the outgoing Biden administration over trade and technology restrictions against China. 'The US move is a typical act of economic coercion and hegemonic bullying, and China is strongly dissatisfied and resolutely opposed to this,' Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun told reporters in Beijing.

According to Anadolu Agency, ahead of its exit from the White House on coming Monday, the Biden administration on Wednesday reinforced export control of advanced computing semiconductors. US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo stated that the outgoing administration would continue to protect national security by restricting the sale of advanced semiconductors to China.

Another US official for industry and security mentioned that the outgoing Biden administration was committed to addressing defense concerns related to China's 'military-civil fusion.' In response, Guo emphasized that 'no sanctions or suppression will hinder China's development and progress. No bullying or coercion will weaken China's resolve to achieve self-reliance.'
