Gaza: The Palestinian group Hamas on Saturday slammed the repeated US statements on displacing Palestinians from Gaza as "absurd and meaningless."

According to Anadolu Agency, Sami Abu Zuhri, a senior Hamas leader, stated that "plans to displace Palestinians from Gaza are absurd and meaningless," emphasizing that what the Israeli occupation could not achieve by force will not be accomplished through political maneuvers. Abu Zuhri criticized the repeated US announcements regarding the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip under the pretext of its reconstruction, describing it as persistent complicity in a crime.

The Hamas leader further described the US administration's insistence on displacement plans for Gaza's Palestinians as "a recipe for further chaos and tension in the region." This statement comes amid controversial remarks by US President Donald Trump, who expressed confidence that Egypt and Jordan would take Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, despite their repeated rejections.

On Friday, Trump reiterated his proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza, suggesting that Egypt and Jordan would comply. He insisted, "They will do it. They will do it. They're going to do it, okay? We do a lot for them, and they're going to do it," dismissing concerns about the two countries' objections.

Trump's proposal to 'clean out' Gaza and resettle Palestinians in Egypt and Jordan, describing the enclave as a 'demolition site' after Israel's genocidal war, has sparked widespread condemnation. The ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which took effect on January 19, temporarily halted the Israeli war that has resulted in over 47,400 Palestinian deaths, most of them women and children, according to Gaza's health authorities. Critics have labeled Trump's proposal as "ethnic cleansing" and a "war crime," with firm rejections from various countries in the Muslim and Arab world, as well as European nations such as France.
