Brussels: The EU will provide $322.8 million in grants to Trkiye over the period from 2025 to 2027 through the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) funding mechanism. This initiative aims to enhance the competitiveness of Turkish enterprises.

According to Anadolu Agency, Jurgis Vilcinskas, the deputy head of mission of the EU Delegation to Trkiye, reported that the EU has previously allocated over £780 million ($812.2 million) to support Trkiye's green transformation. Vilcinskas highlighted that the EU will continue to back both green and digital transformations in the near future.

The grant is set to focus on several critical areas including basic rights, environment, energy, transportation, education, employment, and competitiveness. Vilcinskas emphasized that the funding will enable Turkish firms to evolve into environmentally friendly and sustainable businesses, thereby enhancing their competitiveness. This support aligns with the country's ongoing digital and green transformation efforts.

Addressing the topic of President Donald Trump's threatened tariffs on the EU, Vilcinskas mentioned that the EU, considering the US as one of its largest trading partners, prefers to avoid any trade disruptions. He did not provide further comments on the matter.
