Seven More Bodies Recovered in Gaza as Death Toll Nears 48,200

Gaza City: Palestinian medics and rescue teams have retrieved seven additional bodies from the rubble in the Gaza Strip, bringing the total death toll from the ongoing conflict with Israel since October 2023 to 48,189, as reported by the Health Ministry on Sunday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Health Ministry's statement highlighted that the death toll includes one Palestinian who was killed by Israeli fire. Additionally, two more injured individuals were admitted to hospitals in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of injured to 111,640 due to the Israeli offensive.

The ministry also noted that numerous victims remain trapped beneath the debris and along roadways, as rescuers face challenges reaching them. Despite a ceasefire agreement taking effect in Gaza on January 19, which halted the Israeli assault, the region remains devastated.

In response to the conflict, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Furthermore, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the enclave.
