Trkiye: Trkiye's unemployment rate ticked down by 0.1 percentage point to 8.5% in December, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Monday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the number of jobless individuals aged 15 and over decreased by 39,000 from the previous month, bringing the total to 3.03 million as of December. The unemployment rate for men remained stable at 6.9%, while it saw a slight decrease for women, dropping to 11.4% from 11.7%.

Labor force participation was recorded at 54.1% in December, reflecting a minor decline of 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month. The employment rate also experienced a slight decrease, edging down by 0.1 percentage points to 49.5%, which translates to 32.7 million people being employed.

Youth unemployment, which includes individuals aged 15-24, saw an increase of 0.5 percentage points, reaching 16.3%. The youth unemployment rate was 13.1% for males and 22.1% for females in December, compared to 12.1% and 22.6% respectively in November 2024.
