Trkiye Aims to Export Over 400,000 Tons of Flour to Syria in 2025

Istanbul: Trkiye, the world's largest flour supplier with exports exceeding 3 million tons in 2024, aims to export more than 400,000 tons of flour to Syria this year, a sector representative said. Eren Gunhan Ulusoy, Eurasia director at the International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM), highlighted the strategic role of Trkiye as a key flour supplier to Syria, especially during the civil war, though exports have experienced fluctuations due to geopolitical circumstances.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ulusoy, speaking at the 19th International Congress of the Turkish Flour Industrialists' Federation (TUSAF), pointed out that Syria's Idlib and Raqqa regions have become significant export areas for Trkiye because of their geographical proximity. He emphasized that Syria will remain an important market for Trkiye's flour industry, which is expected to contribute to the country's reconstruction efforts.

Ulusoy noted a substantial increase in Trkiye's flour exports to Syria, rising from 267,000 tons in 2023 to 326,000 tons in 2024. The goal for 2025 is to further boost these exports to over 400,000 tons, underscoring the ongoing commitment of Trkiye to support Syria through these essential supplies.
