Baalbek: An Israeli drone strike on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to two others in the Baalbek district of eastern Lebanon, according to media reports. The attack took place despite the existence of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon. According to Anadolu Agency, Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) reported that the airstrike targeted the Shaara area in Janta, situated in the Baalbek district near the eastern Lebanon mountain range. This incident is part of a series of violations of the ceasefire agreement that was established on November 27, with Lebanese authorities reporting over 1,033 breaches. These violations have resulted in at least 81 fatalities and 279 injuries. The ceasefire was meant to put an end to the months of cross-border warfare between Israel and Hezbollah, a Lebanese resistance group, which escalated into a full-scale conflict in September. Under the terms of the agreement, Israel was expected to complete its withdrawal from southern Lebano n by January 26. However, the deadline was extended to February 18 as Israel did not comply with the initial timeline. Although the Israeli army withdrew from southern Lebanese towns last week, it has maintained a military presence at five border outposts, highlighting ongoing tensions and challenges in fully implementing the ceasefire agreement.
