Istanbul: Russian and American delegations will meet in Istanbul on Thursday for a technical meeting, sources from the Turkish Foreign Ministry said Wednesday. The meeting signifies ongoing diplomatic efforts between the two nations amidst global tensions.
According to Anadolu Agency, the sources emphasized Ankara's commitment to supporting Ukraine peace efforts, including offering a venue for discussions. Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced the meeting, which aims to address the functioning of their respective embassies.
Lavrov highlighted that the discussions will involve diplomats and high-level experts focusing on systemic issues resulting from previous US administration actions. These actions reportedly created challenges for the Russian embassy, leading to reciprocal measures affecting the American embassy's operations in Moscow.
Last week, both nations' diplomats engaged in talks in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. They agreed to work towards resolving the conflict in Ukraine and enhancing their diplomatic and economic relations.
