Queensland: Around 118,000 homes are still without power in Australia's northeastern state of Queensland in the wake of Tropical Cyclone Alfred, SBS News reported Tuesday. Queensland Premier David Crisafulli stated that emergency alerts have been lifted as rainfall has slowed and rivers have begun to subside, marking the beginning of the recovery phase for the state.

According to Anadolu Agency, nearly 118,000 out of the 450,000 homes that lost power during the storm remain without electricity. Premier Crisafulli emphasized the significance of this number during a media briefing and assured that the electricity company is "working around the clock" to restore power.

Furthermore, Crisafulli reported that 360 schools have reopened, indicating that "more than half of Queensland's kids are back at school today." The transportation network is also showing signs of recovery, signaling a gradual return to normalcy in the region.
