Acting Turkish Charge d’Affaires in Damascus Meets Syrian Defense Minister

Damascus: Burhan Koroglu, Turkey's acting charge d'affaires in Damascus, met with Syrian Defense Minister Murhef Abu Kasra on Thursday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Lt. Col. Hasan Goz, the Military Attach© of the Turkish Embassy, discussed ways to enhance military cooperation between Turkey and Syria during the meeting. This interaction marks a significant diplomatic engagement between the two nations following years of strained relations caused by the Syrian Civil War.

The reopening of the Turkish Embassy in Damascus last December, after being shut for years, signaled a shift in diplomatic relations following the fall of the Assad regime. The transition in Syria's leadership saw Ahmed al-Sharaa taking office as the president in January, marking a new phase in Syrian politics.
