Ankara: Powerful storms, including tornadoes, hail, and destructive winds, have claimed at least 17 lives across the central and southeastern United States since Friday night. The severe weather conditions have led multiple states to declare emergencies as communities grapple with the aftermath.

According to Anadolu Agency, Missouri reported the highest number of fatalities with 11 lives lost. Arkansas confirmed three deaths and 29 people injured across eight counties. In Texas, dust storms propelled by winds exceeding 128 kilometers (80 miles) per hour resulted in deadly car crashes, causing at least three fatalities.

Oklahoma faced over 130 wildfires which led to evacuations, although no fatalities have been reported. The governors of Arkansas, Alabama, Kansas, and Missouri have declared states of emergency as the storm system continues to pose a significant threat to the region.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a warning of a "Particularly Dangerous Situation," highlighting a high risk of intense, long-track tornadoes in eastern Louisiana and Alabama. The storms are part of a larger weather system anticipated to intensify as it progresses southeast, heightening the risk of deadly tornadoes and severe thunderstorms.

Authorities have urged residents to stay clear of debris, remain vigilant for downed power lines, and adhere to local emergency updates as recovery efforts are underway.
