Washington: US President Donald Trump has announced his decision to overturn pardons granted by former President Joe Biden, alleging that they were signed using an autopen without Biden's knowledge and are now 'void, vacant, and of no further effect.'

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump made this declaration in a post on Truth Social, stating that the pardons granted by Biden were invalid due to the use of an autopen, a mechanical device that replicates signatures. Trump accused Biden of being unaware of these actions, claiming Biden neither signed nor was informed about the necessary pardoning documents.

The Oversight Project, a division of the Heritage Foundation behind Project 2025, has released a report supporting Trump's allegations by asserting that Biden employed an autopen to sign nearly all documents during his presidency. Trump further suggested that those involved in the pardoning process might have committed a crime, accusing members of the 'Unselect Committee' of destroying and deleting all evidence obtained during their investigation of him.

Trump criticized the committee and the individuals involved, suggesting they could face investigation at the highest level. He attributed responsibility for the unauthorized signing of documents to them, without the knowledge or consent of Biden, whom he labeled as "the Worst President in the History of our Country."

Biden, during his presidency, issued 8,064 clemency actions, the highest number by any US president. Among these, Biden granted pardons to several family members just hours before leaving office, citing 'politically motivated attacks.' These family members included James Biden, Sara Jones Biden, Valerie Biden Owens, John T. Owens, and Francis W. Biden. Additionally, in December, Biden pardoned his son, Hunter, for federal gun charges related to firearm possession while under drug addiction in 2018.
