Baghdad: The Iraqi Turkmen Front (ITF) has elected Mohammad Semaan Kanani as its new leader following the resignation of former head Hasan Turan. This decision was made unanimously by the ITF on Sunday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the ITF's political bureau accepted Turan's resignation during an ordinary session and subsequently elected Kanani to succeed him. The ITF's media office released a statement describing the leadership change as a critical step towards unity in Turkmen politics. The statement further noted that the new leadership aims to expedite the achievement of strategic goals for the Turkmen community in Iraq.
