Sanaa: Yemen's Houthi group stated Tuesday that a series of US airstrikes targeted Al Hudaydah Governorate in the west of the country and Saada Governorate in the north. The airstrikes have intensified tensions in the region, underscoring the ongoing conflict between the US and the Houthi forces.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV channel reported that US airstrikes targeted Kamaran Island in Al Hudaydah and two additional strikes occurred in the Al-Salif District of the governorate. In Saada, four airstrikes were conducted in Al-Salem District, though details on casualties or material damage were not provided.

Earlier on Tuesday, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree announced in a televised statement that Houthi air defenses had successfully downed a US MQ-9 Reaper drone over the coastal airspace of Hajjah Governorate using a locally made surface-to-air missile. Saree also revealed that Houthi missile, drone, and naval forces executed two operations targeting American aircraft carriers USS Harry S. Truman and USS Carl Vinson along with their accompanying warships in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea. The attacks utilized 'winged missiles and drones,' according to Saree.

The US has reportedly carried out nearly 1,000 airstrikes in Yemen since March 15, resulting in the deaths of 217 civilians and injuries to 436, primarily women and children. These figures are based on official Houthi data, which do not account for losses among their own forces.

US President Donald Trump previously declared that he had ordered 'decisive and powerful military action' against the Houthi group and later warned of a complete annihilation of the group. The Houthis have targeted ships passing through strategic waterways such as the Red and Arabian seas, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Gulf of Aden since November 2023. This action is in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, where a reported 51,000 people have been killed in an Israeli assault.

The Houthi group had paused attacks following a ceasefire in Gaza declared in January between Israel and the Palestinian resistance group Hamas. However, they resumed these actions after Israel renewed airstrikes on the enclave last month.
