Saada: At least 68 people have been reported killed and 47 injured following US airstrikes on a shelter for African migrants in Yemen's northern Saada province, according to statements made by the Houthi group on Monday. According to Anadolu Agency, the Houthi-run Interior Ministry stated that the airstrikes targeted a shelter housing 115 migrants from various African countries. The ministry identified the shelter as being under the supervision of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and labeled the US attacks as "a full-fledged war crime." Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV broadcasted footage depicting extensive destruction at the site, along with the evacuation of injured individuals to local hospitals. The broadcaster reported that one of the US missiles failed to detonate and is currently being managed by expert teams. There has been no immediate comment from the US regarding the report. The US has conducted over 1,200 airstrikes in Yemen si nce March 15, resulting in more than 225 civilian deaths and over 430 injuries, primarily affecting women and children, based on Houthi data which does not account for their own forces' losses. US President Donald Trump previously declared that he had ordered "decisive and powerful military action" against the Houthi group and issued threats to "completely annihilate them." The Houthis have been targeting ships in strategic waterways since November 2023, in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, where over 52,000 people have died due to an Israeli assault over the past 19 months. The group had paused its attacks when a ceasefire in Gaza was declared in January between Israel and Hamas but resumed them after Israel recommenced airstrikes on Gaza last month.
