Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has reiterated Egypt's stance on maintaining the sovereignty and unity of Syrian territory, firmly opposing any Israeli interference in Syrian matters. Abdelatty's remarks came during a phone conversation with Massad Boulos, a senior advisor to the U.S. President on Arab and Middle Eastern affairs.

According to Anadolu Agency, Abdelatty conveyed Egypt's intention to support the Syrian people, underscoring the importance of Syria's stability in the region. He also condemned an Israeli airstrike near the presidential palace in Damascus, labeling it a breach of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Tel Aviv and Damascus. The minister reaffirmed Egypt's opposition to any form of Israeli interference in Syria.

Abdelatty emphasized the importance of initiating an inclusive political process involving all segments of Syrian society to navigate through the current challenging phase. The recent Israeli airstrikes, which resulted in casualties and injuries, have heightened tensions, going against international calls to halt aggression in Syria.

In his conversation with Boulos, Abdelatty also addressed Lebanon's situation, assuring continued Egyptian support for Lebanon's government and national institutions to achieve stability. He denounced any violations of Lebanese sovereignty and stressed the necessity for the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement and UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

The discussion also touched on Egyptian-American bilateral relations, highlighting the strategic partnership between the two nations. Both parties shared their views on regional developments, particularly in the Horn of Africa, Sudan, Libya, and the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to supporting stability in Sudan and Somalia, emphasizing respect for their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
