Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday conveyed Trkiye's willingness to provide necessary support at every stage of the peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. In a significant phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the leaders discussed bilateral relations and pressing regional and global issues, as announced by Trkiye's presidency on X.
According to Anadolu Agency, during the call, President Erdogan highlighted the importance of resuming direct discussions between Russia and Ukraine. He assured that Trkiye is prepared to offer essential support throughout the peace process. Erdogan also extended an invitation for Russian and Ukrainian delegations to hold peace negotiations in Trkiye.
Erdogan emphasized that establishing a comprehensive ceasefire is crucial for initiating peace talks. He urged both parties to seize the "window of opportunity" for peace. In response, President Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to Erdogan for his willingness to facilitate high-level diplomatic efforts. Zelenskyy acknowledged that a meeting in Trkiye could be a pivotal step toward resolving the conflict.
Zelenskyy also stressed the importance of partner nations in monitoring the ceasefire and reiterated Kyiv's readiness for direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He concluded that both leaders are committed to continuing their joint efforts to secure peace in the region.
