New York: Popular US children's content creator Ms. Rachel on Monday defended her advocacy for Gaza's children, stating that remaining silent about their suffering is what should be considered controversial. According to Anadolu Agency, Ms. Rachel, whose real name is Rachel Griffin Accurso, expressed her concerns during a conversation with British-American journalist Mehdi Hasan. She highlighted the problematic expectation to remain silent about the humanitarian crisis affecting children in Gaza. "I think it should be controversial to not say anything," she remarked. Ms. Rachel criticized the opposition faced when advocating for children in crisis situations, questioning why such advocacy is often labeled as controversial. She rejected the notion that caring for Gaza's children implies a lack of concern for others, describing this perspective as fundamentally flawed. "Our compassion doesn't have boundaries, our borders. We just love kids," she explained. With a significant following of 14 million YouTube s ubscribers and 2.9 million Instagram followers, Ms. Rachel emphasized that staying silent on the issue was not an option for her. "Silence wasn't a choice for me," she stated, addressing the pressure she faced to remain quiet. Ms. Rachel has leveraged her large platform to bring attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where nearly 53,000 Palestinians, primarily women and children, have been killed by Israel since October 2023. Recently, her advocacy drew criticism from StopAntisemitism, a New York-based pro-Israel organization, which urged US Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate her for allegedly spreading "Hamas propaganda" to her audience.
