Tel Aviv: Israeli government ministers have urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to bring the ongoing war in Gaza to a close, as the political ramifications of the conflict continue to escalate. Senior ministers have reportedly communicated to Netanyahu the need to shift focus towards ending the hostilities.

According to Anadolu Agency, Israel's Channel 12 reported that these senior government officials emphasized that the continuation of the conflict is causing more political damage than any military advantages it might yield. This sentiment was reportedly expressed following a conversation between Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump, during which Trump advised Netanyahu to conclude the war.

The channel highlighted that since the outbreak of hostilities on October 7, 2023, there has been a lack of discussions within the Israeli governing coalition regarding the potential cessation of the conflict. Despite international appeals for a ceasefire, the Israeli military has continued its aggressive campaign in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of over 55,100 Palestinians, the majority being women and children.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire, as Israel has maintained a blockade on all border crossings, preventing the flow of humanitarian aid since early March. Aid organizations have issued warnings about the looming threat of famine facing Gaza's 2.4 million residents.

Further complicating the situation, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza. Additionally, Israel is confronting a genocide case at the International Court of Justice related to its military actions in the region.
