Tel Aviv: The Israeli army announced on Sunday that its fighter jets executed airstrikes in the Yazd area of central Iran, specifically targeting storage facilities containing long-range surface-to-surface missiles.

According to Anadolu Agency, an official statement revealed that the Israeli Air Force focused on sites in the Yazd region that were storing Khorramshahr missiles, an Iranian missile system capable of reaching up to 2,000 kilometers. Tomer Bar, commander of the Israeli Air Force, stated, 'In broad daylight, we surprised the 'Imam Hussein' missile headquarters in central Iran.' The mission was overseen by Bar alongside Gilad Keinan, head of air operations. The statement further added, 'We destroyed Khorramshahr missiles before they were launched at Israel and struck tunnels used to store the missiles.'

Earlier reports from Iranian media indicated that local air defenses were activated and put on high alert, although no additional details were provided. In a separate development, US President Donald Trump confirmed that US forces conducted airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan.

The US military's actions involved deploying six bunker-buster bombs at the Fordo facility using B-2 stealth bombers and launching numerous submarine-launched cruise missile strikes on the Natanz and Isfahan sites. These attacks are part of a broader US-backed Israeli military campaign against Iran that began on June 13, leading Tehran to retaliate with attacks on Israel.

Israeli officials reported that at least 25 people have died and hundreds have been injured due to Iranian missile strikes. Conversely, Iranian authorities disclosed that 430 individuals have been killed and more than 3,500 have been wounded in the Israeli assault, as per the Iranian Health Ministry.
