Istanbul: The Turkish foreign minister stated on Sunday that Muslim countries participated in intensive and productive consultations amid serious regional challenges during the 51st session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul. Hakan Fidan expressed gratitude to his counterparts and all participants in a statement on X.

According to Anadolu Agency, Fidan highlighted the Istanbul Declaration, which was adopted during the meeting, as a significant step in amplifying the collective voice of the Islamic world on global issues. The declaration included 156 resolutions addressing the common concerns of Muslim countries and minorities.

Fidan pointed out that the primary focus over the past two days was Israel's aggressive stance, which poses a threat to regional security and stability. Additionally, he announced the OIC's decision to establish a contact group to address recent developments in Iran.

Reflecting on the organization's founding in 1969, Fidan emphasized its ongoing commitment to ending oppression and defending Palestinian rights, referencing its inception following the arson attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque. He asserted that the OIC would not allow Israel's strategy of spreading conflict across the region to obscure the situation in Palestine.

Fidan concluded by stressing the importance of unity among Muslim nations, noting that despite differences in language, shared prayers bind them together. He called for solidarity and cooperation to address common challenges.
