Warsaw: Poland's outgoing president has expressed optimism about Montenegro's potential accession to the European Union by 2028. Andrzej Duda shared this prediction during a joint press conference with Jakov Milatovic, Montenegro's president, highlighting the ongoing cooperation between the two nations.

According to Anadolu Agency, Montenegro has been a candidate for EU membership since 2010. The leaders emphasized their countries' friendship and cooperation during the conference. They also addressed the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, expressing hope for a peaceful resolution through negotiations.

Duda remarked on the recent U.S. attacks on Iranian nuclear sites, describing them as "determined" and "necessary." He stated that the intervention by the U.S. in Iran's nuclear activities underscores global concerns about Iran's intentions to develop nuclear weapons, which could pose a significant threat beyond the Middle East.

Duda, who is concluding his term and will not be eligible for re-election, is set to be succeeded by Karol Nawrocki, who recently won the Polish presidential election.
