Mcallen: A gunman was killed and three people injured Monday when a suspect opened fire at a US Border Patrol facility in McAllen, Texas, authorities said.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that an individual initiated gunfire at the entrance of the Border Patrol sector annex in McAllen. "Both Border Patrol agents and local police helped neutralize the shooter," the DHS stated on X.

Two officers and a Border Patrol employee were wounded in the attack, with one victim sustaining a knee injury. All three were transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez identified the suspect as 27-year-old Ryan Louis Mosqueda during a news conference, as reported by local broadcaster ABC7.

The DHS noted that "this is an ongoing investigation led by the FBI."

Flights at McAllen International Airport experienced temporary disruptions due to the incident. However, operations have resumed fully "following a temporary closure due to off-airport safety concerns," according to a statement by local police.

During a subsequent news briefing, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt stated that the administration is "working with the appropriate federal agencies to get to the bottom of what happened," concerning the shooting.
