Boston: A federal trial is set to begin in Boston, focusing on a lawsuit that challenges President Donald Trump's efforts to deport foreign students and academics involved in pro-Palestinian activism.

According to Anadolu Agency, recent judicial decisions have blocked Trump's attempts to deport student activists supporting Palestinian rights. The lawsuit involves five international scholars-Mahmoud Khalil, Mohsen Mahdawi, Yunseo Chung, Rumeysa Ozturk, and Badar Khan Suri-who were targeted for deportation after Secretary of State Marco Rubio labeled them as threats to U.S. foreign policy interests.

Federal courts have repeatedly ruled that the government's rationale for deporting these individuals violated their constitutional rights, leading to their release or protection from detention. Academic organizations are now taking the broader policy to court, arguing that the Trump administration's actions interfere with the rights of U.S. citizens to freely exchange ideas with foreign-born colleagues.

The trial will be presided over by U.S. District Judge William Young, a Reagan-era appointee known for previously challenging the Trump administration's immigration and funding policies. This case represents an early test of Trump's second-term agenda.
