Ankara: Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa headed to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday for an official visit, the state news agency SANA reported. No details were provided about the duration of the visit, marking his second trip since Sharaa took office in January.

According to Anadolu Agency, Sharaa previously met with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on April 13 during his first visit to the UAE. The leaders discussed ways of enhancing bilateral relations between their countries.

Bashar al-Assad, who led Syria for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia in December, signaling the end of the Baath Party's grip on power that began in 1963. Following Assad's departure, a new transitional administration was established in Syria, with Sharaa at its helm.
