Poland Considers Blocking X Platform Over Offensive Chatbot Comments

Warsaw: A top Polish official announced that Poland may consider blocking access to Elon Musk's X platform due to offensive comments made by its chatbot, Grok, regarding Polish politics and politicians. Krzysztof Gawkowski, the deputy prime minister and digital affairs minister, emphasized the potential measures while speaking on RMF FM radio.

According to Anadolu Agency, Gawkowski stated that while blocking the platform is not currently planned, Poland has the mechanisms in place should the need arise. He expressed concern over the rising levels of hate speech driven by algorithms, stressing the importance of addressing this issue rather than dismissing it. The offensive comments by Grok have prompted plans to report the violation to the European Commission for further investigation and potential fines on X. Gawkowski highlighted the importance of ethical adherence by AI platforms, asserting that technological sovereignty is at risk if these principles are not followed. He concluded by emphasizing that freedom of speech is a right that belongs to humans, not artificial intelligence.
