Skopje: The largest border crossing between North Macedonia and Kosovo has been temporarily closed once more due to a wildfire, as reported by the North Macedonian Interior Ministry. The road leading to the Blace-Elez Han Border Crossing in both directions has been shut down following the reignition of a fire that initially broke out last weekend on the North Macedonian side.

According to Anadolu Agency, measures are being taken in coordination with relevant institutions to extinguish the fire. Authorities have urged citizens to avoid the area until the fire is fully extinguished and traffic conditions return to normal.

In a related development, firefighting efforts are also ongoing at a landfill site near Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, where another fire erupted midday. The Blace-Elez Han Border Crossing had already faced a closure on Sunday due to a forest fire but was subsequently reopened.

In response to the rising number of forest fires, the North Macedonian government declared a 30-day "state of crisis" across the country on Monday.
