Los angeles: A US federal judge has temporarily blocked the Trump administration from conducting what advocates describe as unlawful stops and arrests in Los Angeles.

According to Anadolu Agency, District Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong issued the ruling following a hearing in a lawsuit brought by several immigrant rights groups along with three immigrants detained at a bus stop and two Americans, one of whom was held despite presenting identification to agents.

Judge Frimpong stated that there was sufficient evidence suggesting that agents were stopping individuals based on criteria such as race, language, occupation, or location to establish reasonable suspicion for potential immigration law violations. The judge noted that relying on these factors does not comply with the standards set by the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution. The decision has been seen as a significant move in protecting the rights of immigrants and residents in Los Angeles.

In another development, US President Donald Trump ordered immigration agents to arrest individuals whom he described as 'SLIMEBALLS' for allegedly throwing rocks and bricks at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers. President Trump expressed his concerns on Truth Social after witnessing the incident, which reportedly caused damage to government vehicles. He instructed the Department of Homeland Security and law enforcement officers to arrest attackers using necessary measures.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the resumption of US military aid shipments to Ukraine. Zelenskyy confirmed on Telegram that Ukraine had received positive political signals from the US and European allies, indicating the restoration of aid shipments. He also mentioned an upcoming meeting between Ukrainian military officials and US special envoy Keith Kellogg.
