Minsk: Trkiye and Belarus have signed a protocol to amend their visa exemption agreement, allowing international transport operators from both countries to extend their visa-free stay. The new protocol, signed by Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Shestakov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Guclu Cem Isik, modifies the existing agreement by permitting a 90-day stay within every 180 days, specifically for individuals involved in international freight and passenger transportation.

According to Anadolu Agency, the amendments to the Agreement on Mutual Visa Exemption, originally signed on March 29, 2013, focus on facilitating travel for truck drivers and crew members of trains, civil aircraft, and ships. The agreement aims to streamline operations for those in international cargo and passenger transport by extending the visa-free period to 90 days within any 180-day timeframe.

At the signing ceremony, Ambassador Isik highlighted that the protocol was developed in response to requests from international transport associations in both countries. The modification is anticipated to enhance commercial ties between Trkiye and Belarus. The protocol requires ratification by both nations' legislative bodies before it comes into effect.
