Trump Accuses Obama of Leading ‘Coup,’ Urges Authorities to ‘Go After’ Former President

Washington: US President Donald Trump accused former President Barack Obama of orchestrating a coup against him, suggesting there should be 'severe consequences' and urging authorities to 'go after' him. Speaking alongside Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the Oval Office, Trump responded to a question about disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and convicted child sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell by shifting the focus to Obama.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump alleged that Obama was directly involved in efforts to rig the election, asserting that there is "irrefutable proof" of Obama's seditious actions. Trump claimed that Obama, along with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Joe Biden, was part of a criminal operation, with Obama being the 'ring leader.' He further accused them of attempting to steal and obfuscate the elections in 2016 and 2020.

Obama's office issued a statement rebuking the claims as 'bizarre' and 'outrageous,' labeling them a 'weak attempt at distraction.' The statement emphasized that these allegations are ridiculous and unfounded. Obama also rejected accusations from the Trump administration regarding manipulation of intelligence assessments about Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard released a report last Friday that outlined alleged election fraud, accusing officials of participating in a 'treasonous conspiracy.' However, Obama's office pointed out that the document does not contradict the widely accepted conclusion that Russia attempted to influence the 2016 election but did not successfully manipulate any votes, a finding supported by a 2020 report from the Senate Intelligence Committee.
