New york: Trkiye's Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yilmaz emphasized the necessity of addressing the occupation as the root cause of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In his remarks on Tuesday at an international conference focused on the peaceful resolution of the conflict, Yilmaz stressed the importance of the two-state solution for lasting peace in the region.

According to Anadolu Agency, Yilmaz stated that the failure to achieve a two-state solution is primarily due to the ongoing occupation. He accused Israel of exporting instability across the region through continuous conflicts and criticized the nation for undermining state structures and fostering failed states. Yilmaz described the situation in Gaza as a "genocide" and warned that the conflict's persistence threatens the international order.

Yilmaz called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, asserting that it is unattainable unless the aggressor is compelled to comply. He urged for broader recognition of Palestine and proposed coercive measures against Israel, such as a UN arms ban and trade suspension. Yilmaz condemned Israel's illegal settlements, describing them as theft and colonialism, and demanded accountability for settlers and their supporters.

Trkiye's unwavering support for Palestinian rights was reiterated by Yilmaz, who emphasized the need for active and concrete assistance. The three-day conference at the UN headquarters, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, aims to identify actionable steps to implement a two-state solution. The conference includes eight working groups, each addressing different aspects of the conflict resolution strategy.
