Turkish Stock Exchange Closes Tuesday in the Red

Istanbul: The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 10,954.50 points, down 0.76% from the previous close. The BIST 100 index, which began the day at 11,041.82, saw a decline of 83.82 points compared to Monday's close.

According to Anadolu Agency, the index hit a low of 10,935.85 during the day's trading, with the highest point recorded at 11,044.77. Out of the total indexes, 73 experienced a loss in value, while 26 ended the day with gains.

The total transaction volume for the day reached 100.4 billion Turkish liras, equivalent to $2.46 billion. The overall value of the index was reported to be 10.14 trillion liras, approximately $249.7 billion.

By 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT), the USD/TRY exchange rate was noted at 40.7285, the EUR/TRY rate was at 47.5495, and the GBP/TRY was trading at 55.0070. Additionally, the price of gold was $3,345.65 per ounce, and the barrel price of Brent oil stood at $66.25.
