Trkiye and Syria Sign MoU to Establish Business Council

Ankara: Trkiye and Syria signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) Wednesday for the establishment of a business council to re-establish institutional cooperation between the two nations, the Turkish Trade Ministry said.

According to Anadolu Agency, a roundtable meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Syrian Economy and Industry Minister Nidal Al-Shaar, with a Syrian delegation and Trkiye's Deputy Trade Minister O. Volkan Agar, along with businesspeople who are members of the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK).

During the meeting, opportunities for cooperation that could be developed between the two countries in the process of Syria's reconstruction were discussed, particularly focusing on the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) and Public-Private Partnership models.

The ministry emphasized that a Memorandum of Understanding was signed to establish the Trkiye-Syria Business Council, and nine additional Memoranda of Understanding were signed between civil society organizations in Trkiye and Syria, laying a strong foundation for cooperation.

Efforts will continue to strengthen direct communication channels between the private sectors of the two countries to deepen and institutionalize economic and commercial relations.
