Beirut: One Syrian man was killed, and two others were injured in an overnight Israeli strike in southern Lebanon, Lebanon's Health Ministry announced on Thursday. The strike targeted the town of Deir Siriane in the Marjaayoun district on Wednesday night, leading to these casualties.

According to Anadolu Agency, the attack also extended to the northern outskirts of Deir Siriane, near the Litani River. The strike included targeting a garage and bulldozers near residential homes in the town, causing additional injuries. In a statement issued by the Israeli army, it was claimed that the attacks were aimed at Hezbollah infrastructure sites.

Israel began military operations in Lebanon on October 8, 2023, which escalated into a full-scale war by September 2024, resulting in the deaths of more than 4,000 people and injuries to around 17,000. Although a ceasefire was reached in November, Israeli forces have conducted near-daily attacks in southern Lebanon, citing the targeting of Hezbollah group's activities as the reason.

Under the terms of the truce, Israel was expected to fully withdraw from southern Lebanon by January 26, but the deadline was extended to February 18 after Tel Aviv refused to comply. Israel continues to maintain a military presence at five border outposts.
