Gaza city: The UN human rights office has condemned the recent killing of six journalists by the Israeli military in Gaza, calling the incident a "grave breach" of international humanitarian law.

According to Anadolu Agency, the office expressed its condemnation on social media platform X, highlighting that the Israeli military targeted a journalists' tent near the Al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza City. The attack occurred late Sunday and resulted in the deaths of six journalists, including Al Jazeera correspondents Anas al-Sharif and Mohamed Qraiqea, as reported by the Gaza Government Media Office.

The UN office noted that since October 7, 2023, at least 242 Palestinian journalists have been killed in Gaza. They urged for "immediate, safe and unhindered access to Gaza for all journalists" to prevent further loss of life and ensure the freedom of the press.

The ongoing military operations by Israel have sparked widespread condemnation, with accusations of a genocidal campaign against Gaza. Since the beginning of the conflict in October 2023, over 61,400 individuals have been killed, and the region is now grappling with severe famine.
