Sanaa: Israeli warplanes bombed several sites in Yemen's capital Sunday, including the presidential palace and power plants, the army said. The statement noted that the strikes targeted 'military infrastructure' of the Houthi group in Sanaa, including a site "in which the presidential palace is located, the Asar and Hizaz power plants, and a site for storing fuel."

According to Anadolu Agency, Israel's public broadcaster KAN reported that 14 fighter jets participated in the attack, dropping around 40 munitions on Sanaa. The Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV channel confirmed the attacks, stating that strikes hit a facility belonging to Yemen Petroleum Company on 60 Meters Road and the Haziz Central Power Station in Sanhan district.

The Israeli Navy had previously targeted the same power plant in airstrikes on Sanaa on Aug. 17. The channel, citing an official from the Houthi-run Defense Ministry, mentioned that most of the Israeli aircraft were 'neutralized' and forced to withdraw. The broadcaster added that civil defense teams were working to extinguish fires caused by the strikes.

The Houthi-run Health Ministry reported that four people were killed and 67 were injured in the strikes. The Israeli army claimed that Sunday's strikes were a response to repeated Houthi attacks against Israel, alleging that the Yemeni group used cluster munitions in a missile attack on Israel for the first time since 2023.

Since November 2023, the Houthis have launched missile and drone strikes on Israeli targets and targeted commercial shipping in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Arabian Sea in support of Palestinians in Gaza, where more than 62,600 people have been killed in an Israeli offensive.
