Kyiv: Ukraine's military on Monday announced that its air defense forces successfully destroyed 76 out of 104 drones launched by Russian troops since Sunday evening. Meanwhile, Russia asserted that its air defenses intercepted 21 Ukrainian drones overnight.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Telegram that the Russian strikes were executed from multiple directions, including Kursk, Orel, and Millerovo, utilizing Shahed attack drones and simulator unmanned aerial vehicles. The air assault was countered by Ukraine's aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare, and mobile fire groups.

The Ukrainian military indicated that drone fragments and impacts were noted at 19 locations in northern and eastern Ukraine, resulting in one fatality and nine injuries in the Sumy region. Local officials confirmed damage to residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure.

Additionally, the Ukrainian General Staff of the Armed Forces documented 159 combat clashes over the past day. Russian forces reportedly conducted one missile strike, 79 airstrikes, and over 4,700 drone and artillery attacks.

On the other hand, Moscow reported that its air defenses neutralized 21 Ukrainian drones from late Sunday to the morning of Aug. 25 over various regions, including Smolensk, Bryansk, Oryol, Kaluga, Tver, and the Moscow area, with two drones reportedly heading towards the capital. The Russian Defense Ministry also claimed to have destroyed a Ukrainian UAV control center and communications equipment in the Donetsk region.

These incidents are part of a broader trend of intensified drone warfare between Ukraine and Russia, where both nations have been targeting military sites, infrastructure, and border areas.
