South Korean Court Approves Live Streaming of Former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo’s Martial Law Trial

Seoul: A South Korean court has granted approval for live streaming of the trial of former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, according to local media reports. The trial, which is set to commence this week, revolves around Han's alleged involvement in former President Yoon Suk Yeol's failed attempt to impose martial law.

According to Anadolu Agency, Han is expected to attend the initial hearing at the Seoul Central District Court on Tuesday. He was charged last month with multiple offenses, including "abetting the ringleader of an insurrection" and perjury.

The court's decision to allow live streaming follows a request filed on Friday by the team of special counsel Cho Eun-suk. However, it was decided that surveillance footage from the presidential office on the day of the martial law imposition, December 3, will not be part of the broadcast.

This development comes shortly after the court permitted live streaming of former President Yoon's trial last week. Yoon is similarly facing insurrection charges related to the martial law decree and has been detained since his arrest on July 10.
