Istanbul: The head coach of Trkiye's National Football Team has hailed rising cooperation between Trkiye and Italy, the two countries which will co-host the 2032 UEFA European Football Championship (EURO 2032).

According to Anadolu Agency, Vincenzo Montella expressed his excitement over the collaboration between the two nations at the "MeeTrkItaly" event in Istanbul. The event was supported by Italy's Foreign Ministry and organized by the Italian Embassy in Trkiye, led by Italy's Ambassador to Trkiye, Giorgio Marrapodi. Montella emphasized the cultural similarities between Italy and Trkiye and expressed his eagerness for the forthcoming efforts that will enhance their cultural exchange.

Prior to the event, Montella shared his pride in contributing to the collaboration. He expressed gratitude to the minister and ambassador, stating that Trkiye is gradually becoming his own country due to their cooperation. The event took place at the Italian Embassy residence's Venezia Palace and included key participants such as Turkish Football Federation President Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu, Turkish National Olympic Committee head Ahmet Gulum, and Italian Olympic athletes Alice Bellandi and Matteo Lodo.

During the event, Montella was honored with the Italian Sports Ambassador in World and Sports Diplomacy award by Marrapodi. In his acceptance speech, Montella expressed his excitement and gratitude for the recognition, acknowledging the importance of his role in fostering cooperation for EURO 2032. He thanked Trkiye for entrusting him with a significant task and expressed pride in continuing their collaboration.

Haciosmanoglu, in his remarks during the award presentation, highlighted the strong ties between Italy and Trkiye and jokingly referred to Montella as "already half Turkish." He encouraged Montella to prepare for the appreciation of millions, expressing optimism for future successes, including the World Cup.
