Zelenskyy Highlights European Unity as Key to Addressing Current Challenges

Copenhagen: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that unity remains Europe's only effective response to current challenges after meeting with European leaders at the European Political Community summit in Copenhagen.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy's discussions with the leaders revolved around the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, the SAFE instrument, security guarantees for Ukraine, and potential new EU sanctions against Russia. They also addressed the use of frozen Russian assets and the European future of Ukraine, Moldova, and the Western Balkans.

Zelenskyy stressed that Europe is facing numerous challenges but asserted that unity is the key to overcoming them. He highlighted the importance of collective defense decisions and expressed Kyiv's hope for comprehensive support from its partners. Bilateral projects with individual leaders were also part of the discussions.

The Ukrainian President underscored that Europe's security hinges on joint actions and combined efforts. He thanked those who recognize this necessity and are willing to collaborate in this manner.

The PURL initiative, which was launched by the US and NATO, aims to expedite the delivery of weapons and equipment to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities. Meanwhile, the SAFE initiative is a new EU program offering £150 billion ($176.7 billion) in low-cost loans to member states to enhance their defense capabilities.
