North Korea’s Kim Jong Un Promises New Military Developments Amid US Forces Buildup

Pyongyang: North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has announced plans to develop new military measures in response to the increased presence of US military forces in South Korea.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kim stated that Pyongyang has deployed 'special assets' to counter what it perceives as a growing threat from US military activities in the region. This statement was made during a military exhibition that coincided with the 80th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Kim emphasized that North Korea's strategic concerns have increased in tandem with the US military's arms buildup in the Republic of Korea (South Korea) region. He mentioned that North Korea has identified major targets of concern and has allocated specific resources to address these threats. Furthermore, Kim declared that North Korea is committed to adopting 'additional military measures' to counter the US forces' increasing presence, although he did not elaborate on the specifics of these measures.

Kim also noted that North Korea is closely monitoring the deployment of US strategic strike and reconnaissance capabilities on and around the Korean peninsula. He highlighted that the US's military mobilization is perceived as a potential threat to North Korea's security. In response, Kim stated that Pyongyang would implement 'military and technological measures' to preserve the balance of power if the US continues to strengthen its military posture without regard for regional security concerns.
