Seoul: Former U.S. President Donald Trump is set to visit South Korea on October 29, just ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, as reported by Yonhap News.
According to Anadolu Agency, Trump's visit may include discussions with South Korean and Chinese officials before the APEC summit officially begins on October 31 in Gyeongju. However, it is possible that Trump will depart before the main session on October 31-November 1.
A ruling party official mentioned that while Trump's arrival in Gyeongju on October 29 is expected, his schedule remains under negotiation between South Korea and the U.S. Prior to visiting South Korea, Trump is anticipated to attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Malaysia from October 26 to 28, and then proceed to Japan.
Diplomatic sources indicate that Trump's visit to South Korea may be brief, spanning possibly just one day, though departure details remain unconfirmed. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has suggested a potential "pull-aside" meeting between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea later in the month.
Meanwhile, a ruling party official has refuted the possibility of a meeting between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during the APEC summit.
