California to Sue Trump Over National Guard Deployment Decision

California: Governor Gavin Newsom announced on Sunday that the state intends to file a lawsuit against the Trump administration regarding the deployment of California National Guard troops to Portland, Oregon. Newsom accused President Trump of utilizing the US military as a political instrument against American citizens.

According to Anadolu Agency, Newsom revealed that Trump is dispatching 300 California National Guard members to Portland following a federal judge's temporary block on his effort to federalize Oregon's National Guard. Newsom described this move as a "breathtaking abuse of the law and power," accusing the Trump administration of attacking the rule of law and ignoring court orders.

In a press release, Newsom emphasized the severity of the situation, criticizing the Trump administration for treating judges, including those appointed by Trump, as political adversaries. He underscored the importance of public awareness and action, urging that the public must not remain silent in response to what he described as reckless and authoritarian behavior by the President. Newsom confirmed that the state would challenge this decision in court.
