Russia, Ukraine Accuse Each Other of Extensive Drone and Missile Assaults

Khartoum: Russia and Ukraine exchanged accusations on Monday regarding significant overnight air assaults, with Moscow alleging that its air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed more than 250 Ukrainian drones. Simultaneously, Kyiv reported numerous Russian strikes across several regions.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that its air defense units had intercepted and neutralized 251 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles overnight. This included 62 drones over the Black Sea and five over the Azov Sea. The downed drones were reported across various regions, including Crimea, Kursk, Belgorod, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, and areas near Moscow.

On the other hand, Ukrainian authorities reported that Russia launched 762 strikes on 17 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region within the past 24 hours, resulting in one death and 11 injuries. Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, stated that the enemy conducted six airstrikes and over 500 drone attacks on civilian areas. He further noted that there were 240 reports of damage to homes, vehicles, and infrastructure.

Additionally, in the Chernihiv region, authorities reported that Russian shelling targeted an energy facility overnight, leading to power outages. Regional energy operator Chernihivoblenergo confirmed that the Ichnyan region was shelled, striking an energy facility. Meanwhile, in the southern Odessa region, regional governor Oleh Kiper reported that Russian 'Shahed' drones attacked a civilian industrial facility, igniting a fire that was swiftly extinguished. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
