Aston Martin Shares Drop 6% Following Profit Warning Amid Tariff Concerns

London: Aston Martin, the British luxury carmaker, experienced a notable 6% decrease in its stock price on Monday. This decline follows the company's issuance of a profit warning, highlighting a challenging industry outlook and uncertainties surrounding tariffs.

According to Anadolu Agency, Aston Martin indicated in a statement that it anticipates a reduction in its 2025 total wholesale volumes by a 'mid-high single-digit percentage' compared to the 6,030 units sold last year. The company also announced that it has begun an immediate review of future costs and capital expenditures. It no longer expects to generate positive free cash flow in the latter half of the year.

The firm's estimations revealed that analysts had predicted an earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) loss of £110 million ($147.8 million) for 2025. Aston Martin highlighted the various challenges facing the industry, including uncertainties over the economic impact of US tariffs and the implementation of a quota mechanism. Other factors include changes to China's ultra-luxury car taxes and increased potential for supply chain pressures, particularly following a recent cyber incident at a major UK automotive manufacturer.

Aston Martin further elaborated that for UK automakers, the implementation of a US tariff quota mechanism complicates the situation and limits the group's ability to provide precise projections for the end of the current fiscal year and potentially for quarterly forecasts starting in 2026.
