Moscow: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has expressed his views on US President Donald Trump's approach to ending conflicts, emphasizing the need for more comprehensive and patient solutions to achieve lasting peace. Lavrov's comments came during an interview with the public organization Franco-Russian Dialogue in Moscow.

According to Anadolu Agency, Lavrov refrained from commenting on Trump's specific peace plan for Ukraine, pointing out the mixed reactions it has received from Kyiv. He reiterated the importance of diplomatic settlements in conflict resolution, highlighting the tendency of US foreign policy to assert its influence globally. Lavrov remarked on the current state of international trade and investment, describing it as chaotic.

Lavrov also criticized Trump's claim of having "ended" eight wars, asserting that these actions merely suspended hostilities without addressing the underlying issues. He acknowledged the merit in Trump's desire to halt bloodshed but emphasized the need for more deliberate and patient efforts to achieve long-term peace.

The Russian Foreign Minister further questioned Europe's contradictory stance toward Russia, challenging the notion that Russia poses a threat while being perceived as weak. He also commented on the France-Ukraine agreement involving the delivery of 100 Rafale fighter jets to Kyiv, making a light-hearted remark about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's fondness for the number 100.

Addressing French President Emmanuel Macron's interest in potentially joining BRICS, Lavrov expressed doubt about the likelihood of a consensus among the group's members, given France's positions in the global economy, politics, and finance.
