Beirut: An Israeli drone strike hit the town of Taybeh in southern Lebanon on Saturday, marking a new violation of the fragile ceasefire agreement that has been in place since November 2024, Lebanese media reported. The attack comes amid ongoing tensions between the two nations, raising concerns about the stability of the ceasefire.

According to Anadolu Agency, the state news agency NNA did not provide details about injuries resulting from the attack. Additionally, the outlet reported that an Israeli drone flew at a very low altitude over the capital Beirut, including its southern suburbs. Similar drone overflights were noted over several villages in the Zahrani area in the south, as well as in the Hermel district in northeastern Lebanon.

The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon was reached after more than a year of cross-border attacks amid the war in Gaza, which led to the deaths of more than 4,000 people and injuries to 17,000 others. Despite the agreement, Israeli forces were supposed to withdraw from southern Lebanon by January but have only partially pulled out, maintaining a military presence at five border outposts.
