Sydney: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that the country's federal intelligence and law enforcement agencies will undergo a review in response to the mass shooting on Sydney's Bondi Beach on December 14.

According to Anadolu Agency, Albanese stated that the review, which will be led by Dennis Richardson, the former chief of the Australian Security Intelligence Organization (ASIO), and the departments of defense and foreign affairs, is expected to be completed and published by April. The aim is to ensure that security agencies are well-prepared to handle the rapidly changing security environment in Australia, as highlighted by the recent tragedy.

The shooting incident involved a man and his son who opened fire on the beach, resulting in the deaths of 15 people and injuries to 42 others. Authorities have labeled the attack as a "terrorist attack," and it has sparked a national conversation about security and safety measures.

The review will specifically focus on federal agencies, including ASIO and the Australian Federal Police, examining their powers, structures, processes, and information-sharing arrangements to enhance the safety of Australians.

In remembrance of the lives lost, Sunday has been declared a 'National Day of Reflection' with Prime Minister Albanese and New South Wales Premier Chris Minns attending a service at the site of the tragedy. Albanese emphasized the importance of national unity during this time, especially in light of attempts by some organized groups to sow division following the antisemitic attack.

Albanese used US social media company X to condemn these divisive rallies, stating that they are not welcome in Australia and urging people not to attend them. The Prime Minister's call for unity underscores the nation's resolve to stand together against terrorism and violence.
